[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] IHG Hotels & Resorts (hereinafter IHG) announced on the 18th that it will introduce the luxury global hotel brand ‘InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ for the first time in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
Scheduled to open in 2025, InterContinental Pyeongtaek will be the first global luxury hotel in Gyeonggi Province. It is a first-class hotel with a total of 244 rooms.
IHG originally planned to launch the lifestyle hotel brand ‘Boco Pyeongtaek’ on the site, but reflecting the increased demand for luxury hotels equipped with large-scale conference rooms, restaurants, bars, etc., it ultimately decided to introduce the global luxury hotel brand ‘InterContinental Pyeongtaek’.
Park Seyon, Chief Development Officer of Seraphim Development, the developer, said, “Over the past two years, we have closely observed the changes in the Pyeongtaek area and held intensive discussions with our partner IHG Hotels & Resorts and Pyeongtaek city officials. Based on a thorough review of what local residents and visitors truly want, we made the groundbreaking decision to introduce InterContinental, the world’s largest hotel brand.”
InterContinental Pyeongtaek will be the fourth InterContinental hotel introduced in South Korea. It will offer various types of restaurants and bars, as well as facilities such as a rooftop swimming pool with views of the surrounding area, providing convenience to local residents and travelers, while also offering spaces for meetings and events.
InterContinental Pyeongtaek plans to provide visitors with a global experience thanks to its unique location. Close to Pyeongtaek Port, InterContinental Pyeongtaek is easily accessible by various transportation modes including sea, express train, and car. Additionally, it is integrated within an international cultural complex facility and adjacent to Naeri Tourism Resort District and Naeri Cultural Park, offering diverse experiences to both domestic and international visitors.
