Gyeongbuk Province, "Let's Protect Food Safety for Residents' Safe Chuseok" ... Comprehensive Inspection of Popular Chuseok Holiday Foods Conducted Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] From the 16th to the 24th, Gyeongbuk Province, along with cities and counties, will conduct a comprehensive inspection of food manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of Chuseok seasonal products to ensure that residents can purchase safe food ahead of the Chuseok holiday.


This inspection will focus on items with increased consumption during the Chuseok holiday period, such as ritual foods and processed foods for Chuseok gifts.


In addition to hygiene inspections, sampling tests will also be conducted to check whether the distributed foods meet standards and specifications.


The main inspection items include ▲whether expired products or ingredients not allowed for food use are being used ▲appropriateness of preservation and distribution standards for raw materials and finished products ▲compliance with standards for hygienic handling of foods, etc.


Violations found during the inspection will be subject to administrative measures according to relevant laws, and non-compliant products will be recalled and disposed of.


Deliberate illegal activities will be strictly punished, including filing complaints.


To prevent food poisoning accidents in the hot and humid environment of the rainy season, special attention is required in the cooking, storage, and management of ingredients and food, and food poisoning prevention promotional activities will also be conducted.


To prevent food poisoning accidents, ▲use separate knives and cutting boards for raw and cooked foods to prevent cross-contamination ▲cool heated cooked food within 2 hours, place it in airtight containers, and store it refrigerated.


Foods must be reheated before consumption, nuts and peanuts prone to mold should be sealed and preferably stored refrigerated or frozen, and dried agricultural products such as grains and legumes should be well sealed and stored in a dry place.


Park Seongsu, Director of Welfare and Health Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “Due to the high temperature and humid weather, special caution is needed to prevent food poisoning accidents. We ask for compliance with food poisoning prevention rules and will do our best to ensure the safety of residents’ food during the Chuseok holiday.”
