[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Following SK Telecom, KT will launch a mid-tier plan on the 23rd. It offers 30GB of data for 61,000 KRW per month.
On the 11th, KT announced that it has reported the 5G mid-tier plan to the Ministry of Science and ICT.
KT's reported 5G mid-tier plan, '5G Slim Plus,' provides 30GB of data for 61,000 KRW per month, and after data is exhausted, users can continue to use data at 1Mbps speed. This plan will be officially launched on the 23rd of this month.
Additionally, KT plans to introduce the '5G Direct 44,' a 5G mid-tier plan available for subscription through KT Direct (an online direct store within KT Shop) without visiting a physical store, in September.
The 5G Direct 44 offers 30GB of data for 44,000 KRW per month (with 1Mbps speed after data is used up) and can be used without a contract.
KT explained that the 5G mid-tier plans are expected to expand customer choices and reduce the burden of communication costs.
Goo Gang-bon, Head of KT Customer Business Division (Executive Director), stated, "We focused on launching services that consider customers' usage patterns and benefits," adding, "KT will continue to prioritize customers when launching services."
Earlier, SK Telecom launched the 'Basic Plus' plan offering 24GB of data for 59,000 KRW per month and the online-only plan '5G Untact 42' offering 24GB of data for 42,000 KRW per month, starting sales on the 5th.
