[Seoul District News] Gangseo-gu selects a total of 46 people including 23 high school students and 23 university students, applications accepted from August 22 to September 7 with recommendations from school principals and local neighborhood chiefs
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) has embarked on nurturing talents who will lead the future of the region.
The district announced that it will select and support the ‘2022 Second Half Gangseo-gu Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Song Jin-su) Model Scholarship Students.’
The purpose is to help students grow into outstanding talents who contribute to the local community through scholarship support.
A total of 46 students will be selected, with 23 exemplary high school students and 23 university students chosen. High school students will receive 1 million KRW as an academic encouragement grant, and university students will receive scholarships of up to 2 million KRW for tuition fees.
Eligible applicants are well-behaved and exemplary high school or university students who have continuously resided in Gangseo-gu for more than one year as of the announcement date, August 1.
Additionally, academic performance for the first semester of this year must meet the criteria: high school students must have an average subject grade within 4.0 on a 9-grade scale, and university students must have a GPA of B or higher. However, students who receive full tuition or scholarships from the national government, local governments, other foundations, or schools, or those enrolled in credit bank systems, Korea National Open University, or cyber (distance) universities located outside Gangseo-gu are excluded.
The application period is from August 22 to September 7, 6 PM. High school students must apply with a recommendation from their school principal, and university students must apply with a recommendation from the head of their residential neighborhood office by visiting or mailing the application form and related documents to the Gangseo-gu Scholarship Foundation Secretariat.

The district will select a total of 46 scholarship students through the scholarship selection committee in October, announce the results on the scholarship foundation website, and notify individuals separately. A scholarship certificate awarding ceremony will also be held in October.
A district official said, “We hope this scholarship support allows students to focus on their studies without financial worries,” and added, “We will continue to actively support students, the future leaders, to grow into outstanding talents.”
