The Ultimate Workplace E-Sports Champion Decided! ... Busan City Hosts 'Busan Mayor's Cup National Workplace E-Sports Tournament'

The Ultimate Workplace E-Sports Champion Decided! ... Busan City Hosts 'Busan Mayor's Cup National Workplace E-Sports Tournament' Busan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City and the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency will hold the "5th Busan Mayor's Cup National Office Worker E-sports Tournament" at the Busan Esports Stadium on September 3 to promote the E-sports culture.

Now in its 5th year, the "Busan Mayor's Cup National Office Worker E-sports Tournament" is open not only to office workers based in Busan but also to all office workers nationwide.

In last year's tournament, LG Electronics won the office worker division in the StarCraft category, and Nonsan 1st, Song Jae-wook took first place in the small business division, achieving both company promotion and employee unity.

This year's tournament will be held in two divisions, the office worker division and the small business division, as in the previous year.

The office worker division is open to anyone employed by a domestic company or organization, and the small business division is open to office workers belonging to businesses with fewer than 10 regular employees in manufacturing, construction, or transportation industries, or fewer than 5 employees in other sectors.

Team competitions are limited to participants working at the same company.

The tournament will consist of three categories reflecting office workers' preferences: League of Legends, StarCraft, and a demonstration game from the Busan region, with a focus on team competitions to foster camaraderie among office workers.

League of Legends will be played in teams of five, StarCraft in teams of three, but the StarCraft small business division will be an individual competition.

The demonstration game will be selected through a public contest from games serviced by developers in the Busan area and will be announced separately.

The tournament will also feature various video content such as confident interviews with participants, humorous trash talk provoking opponents, and short-form videos that capture attention quickly through creative planning.

Applications for the tournament will be accepted until August 24 on the official website of the Busan Esports Stadium.

Participants will compete in online preliminaries over two days, August 27 and 28, and must pass the preliminaries to participate in the offline finals held at the Busan Esports Stadium on September 3.

The total prize money for the tournament is 10.3 million KRW, and the event will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the Busan Esports Stadium.

Kim Ki-hwan, Director of Culture and Sports at Busan City, said, "We expect the '5th Busan Mayor's Cup National Office Worker E-sports Tournament' to continue the passionate E-sports atmosphere that Busan experienced during MSI in May," adding, "As the tournament has attracted great interest from office workers nationwide every year, we ask for the public's active interest and participation this year as well."

The Busan Esports Stadium is committed to expanding E-sports by operating amateur E-sports tournaments such as the "5th Busan Mayor's Cup National Office Worker E-sports Tournament," the "High School E-sports Competition," and the "E-sports University League," as well as educational programs for youth like the "E-sports Career Experience Program."
