Completion of Cheonhwangsan Hiking Trail Connection Project Scheduled for This October
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Doraejae Natural Recreation Forest in Miryang-si, Gyeongnam is scheduled to open in October.
The city had planned to open the recreation forest in July to coincide with the summer vacation season, but on the 1st, it announced that the construction period was delayed due to the impact of the ready-mixed concrete transport workers' strike in May.
Doraejae Natural Recreation Forest is Miryang's first forest recreation facility located at the center of the Yeongnam Alps, with a budget of 10 billion KRW invested.
According to the city, convenience facilities such as one forest recreation hall, three forest houses for accommodation, a visitor information center, a rest restaurant, and 15 camping decks, as well as experiential education facilities like a yoga experience center and a camping support center, have been completed.
The total number of completed rooms is 13, which is fewer than other recreation forests. The city had planned to build one more forest recreation hall before the summer vacation season, but the strike caused disruptions in the supply of ready-mixed concrete, slowing down construction progress.
The city plans to complete the forest interpretation, woodworking, and yoga experience programs within the recreation forest, open the rest restaurant, and finish the trail connection project to Cheonhwangsan Mountain around October.
Mayor Park Il-ho said, “We regret to deliver disappointing news to citizens eagerly awaiting the opening. As the opening is delayed, we will thoroughly prepare to supplement shortcomings and operate programs so that there will be no inconvenience in use.”
