Myungsoon Lee, New Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Lee Myeong-sun, a standing member of the Securities and Futures Commission at the Financial Services Commission, has been appointed as the Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS). Along with this, Lee Junsu and Ham Yongil, deputy deputy governors of the FSS, were also promoted to deputy governors.
On the 25th, the Financial Services Commission held its 3rd extraordinary meeting and appointed three deputy governors of the FSS upon the recommendation of the FSS Governor. According to the Act on the Establishment, etc. of the Financial Services Commission, the deputy governors of the FSS are appointed by the Financial Services Commission following the recommendation of the FSS Governor.
The newly appointed senior deputy governor graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics and joined the Financial Supervisory Commission in 2006. He has served as Director of Planning and Administration at the Financial Intelligence Unit, Head of the Capital Market Division at the Financial Services Commission, Policy Officer for Structural Improvement, Policy Officer for Small and Low-income Finance, and Director of the Financial Consumer Bureau. Since January last year, he has been serving as a standing member of the Securities and Futures Commission at the Financial Services Commission.
The new deputy governor Lee will be in charge of banking and small and low-income finance, while Deputy Governor Ham will oversee capital markets and accounting. The new deputy governor Lee graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Economics and joined the Bank of Korea in 1992. He moved to the Financial Supervisory Service in 1999, where he served as Head of the Specialized Credit Services Team, Head of the Banking Supervision General Team, Secretary General, and Director of the Banking Supervision Bureau. The new deputy governor Ham graduated from the Department of Accounting at the University of Seoul and joined the Securities Supervisory Board in 1992. He later served as Head of the Asset Management Supervision Team at the Financial Supervisory Service, Head of the Inspection Planning Team at the Financial Investment Inspection Bureau, Director of the Financial Investment Inspection Bureau, and Director General of Supervision.
The term of the new deputy governors begins today and lasts for three years.
