Wando-gun Introduces Mobile Payment System for Wando Sarang Gift Certificates

Easy Payment Expected to Receive Strong User Response Due to No Merchant Fee Burden

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Choi Kyungpil] Jeonnam Wando-gun announced on the 25th that it will introduce a mobile payment (QR) system starting next month, following the issuance of paper-type Wando Love Gift Certificates in July 2019, the introduction of card-type certificates in June 2021, to increase income for local small business owners and prevent capital outflow from the region.

In the case of paper-type gift certificates, there were issues with illegal distribution, and card-type certificates imposed commission fees on affiliated stores. However, with the introduction of the mobile payment system, payments can be made easily without carrying a card, and since there are no commission fees for affiliated stores, usage is expected to become more convenient.

Additionally, it will secure additional positive effects such as reducing the budget for gift certificate issuance costs and sales/redemption commissions, and simplifying the work of sales agencies.

The mobile Wando Love Gift Certificate payment is completed by scanning the QR code of the affiliated store with a smartphone, entering the purchase amount, and authenticating with a fingerprint or simple password (PIN).

Users can check gift certificate issuance, charging, usage history, and balance through the smartphone app ‘Local Love Gift Certificate chak (Chak)’ without visiting sales agencies.

Applications for mobile Wando Love Gift Certificate affiliated stores can be made by visiting or calling the Economic Transportation Division of Wando County Office or by visiting the town and township offices.

Meanwhile, to launch the mobile type Wando Love Gift Certificate, the county conducted a pilot operation including promoting the benefits of the mobile gift certificate, installing QR kits, and directly guiding store owners on how to use it.

Kim Seongsu, head of the Economic Transportation Division of Wando, said, “The mobile Wando Love Gift Certificate, which can be used conveniently and has no commission fees for affiliated stores, is expected to help increase sales for small business owners and revitalize the local economy.”
