[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The police have arrested a man in his 20s as a suspect in the case of a female college student found bleeding to death on the Inha University campus.
The Michuhol Police Station in Incheon announced on the 15th that they had urgently arrested A, a first-year male student at the university, on charges of rape and murder.
A is suspected of sexually assaulting B, a first-year female student and acquaintance at the university, on the Inha University campus in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, early that morning, resulting in her death.
The police investigated A as a witness, who was the last person to be with B before her death, through CCTV footage around the crime scene, and upon determining there was probable cause, they urgently arrested him that afternoon.
Earlier, B was found collapsed on the Inha University campus at around 3:49 a.m. that day by a passerby.
At the time, B was bleeding heavily not only from her head but also from her ears and mouth, with her clothes torn off. She was transported to the hospital by the 119 emergency medical team in a state of cardiac arrest but ultimately passed away.
A police official stated, "We plan to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy and other procedures," adding, "We intend to apply for an arrest warrant for A after further confirming the circumstances of the incident and the motive for the crime."
