[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The Daegu Bank branch of the National Financial Industry Labor Union donated 20 million KRW in sponsorship funds to the Daegu Seo-gu Family Center to expand employment opportunities for local marriage immigrant women and support their adaptation to Korean culture and society.
The donated funds were provided considering the increased difficulties caused by job losses due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and were prepared to encourage stable employment through the acquisition of professional qualifications necessary for employment.
The entire sponsorship fund was raised through a 1% salary sharing contribution from DGB Daegu Bank employees and will be operated through the ‘Daegu Marriage Immigrant Women Employment Education Center’ at the Daegu Seo-gu Family Center.
Subsequently, in cooperation with family centers in eight districts and counties in the Daegu area, candidates wishing to acquire professional qualifications will be recruited and a systematic support program will be operated.
The Daegu Bank branch of the National Financial Industry Labor Union conducts various volunteer activities for vulnerable groups and local residents in welfare blind spots.
This year as well, they plan to continue expanding the scale of social contributions by delivering sponsorship funds to fire victims, marginalized children, and expanding partnerships with related organizations.
Kim Jeong-won, the union chairman, said, “I hope that this meaningful sponsorship fund, gathered from the hearts of DGB Daegu Bank employees, will help local marriage immigrant women in their self-development and create a virtuous cycle of various sharing,” and added, “We will continue to strive to share the love we have received from local residents through diverse social contribution activities.”
