Haeodo-dong 7080 Street BI and Design Resident Briefing Session Held
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 12th, Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, held the ‘Haedo-dong 7080 Street BI and Design Resident Briefing Session’ at the Haedo Senior Happiness Center, attended by about 50 people including the Haedo-dong 7080 Street Merchants Association, POSCO, city council members, and heads of autonomous organizations.
At this resident briefing session, as part of the Haedo-dong 7080 Theme Street Development Project, the city gathered residents’ opinions on the naming and BI design aimed at improving the street environment and creating a distinctive food culture street, with the goal of enhancing understanding and advancing the project successfully.
Professor Jin-gu Lee of Handong University, the lead researcher for the design planning service, explained the meaning of the naming ‘Saeroksaero (새록새路)’, referring to the street as a place that vividly recalls the memories of the prosperous bicycle road in the 70s and 80s and as a street that will grow into Pohang’s new premium food destination in the future. He also presented a public design for the themed street harmonized with the surrounding space.
During the briefing session, outstanding works by design thinking trainees from the ‘Haedo-dong 7080 Street Revitalization Plan’ project, conducted in collaboration with POSCO Talent Creation Center’s Employment Academy since April, were presented. Fresh and creative ideas from people in their 20s on making Haedo-dong a hot place poured out, receiving great responses from attendees.
Lee Guk-dong, president of the Haedo-dong 7080 Street Merchants Association, said, “Now that Haedo-dong 7080 Street has received the meaningful name ‘Saeroksaero,’ we will work with the city to make it a new premium food destination in Pohang.”
Pohang City plans to develop ‘Saeroksaero’ into a specialized street with attractions, entertainment, and food by installing sculptures and creating a themed street along with developing representative food items following the completion of the BI design plan.
