Hankook Tire Files Complaint Against Union Member for Acts of Violence

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The management of Hankook Tire has filed a complaint with the police regarding the violent incident that occurred at the Daejeon factory.


According to industry sources on the 1st, Hankook Tire submitted a complaint to the police against the Metalworkers' Union Hankook Tire Branch officials on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Violent Acts and obstruction of business.


Hankook Tire claims that on the 19th of last month, the union branch president assaulted a company official inside the company. They also stated that the union caused approximately 300 million KRW in damages by stopping factory operations without consulting the management.


Earlier, Metalworkers' Union members at Hankook Tire assaulted the responsible staff while unauthorizedly halting some equipment at the Daejeon factory on the 19th. The union members claim they also suffered damages during this process.


Hankook Tire said, "Violence should never occur inside the company for any reason," and added, "We will do our best to ensure smooth communication between labor and management."
