[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) is stepping up efforts to find ways to revitalize idle land at Incheon Port.

On the 26th, IPA announced that it has launched the 'Incheon Port Idle Land Revitalization Working Group' and held a kickoff meeting.

The working group consists of four external experts and two IPA employees. Starting with the kickoff meeting, discussions will be held until September on environmental analysis of the idle land at Incheon Port, sharing of excellent domestic cases, business plan development, and deriving operation and management measures.

The first area under review for idle land is a 25,114㎡ neighborhood park created in 2013 in the southern part of the Incheon North Port hinterland complex (Wolchandong, Seo-gu).

Although accessibility is expected to improve further with the opening of the Third Yeonryuk Bridge near the park, current usage by nearby workers and residents is low, necessitating revitalization measures.

Accordingly, the working group decided to consider developing the site into a distinctive park such as a sports park to increase user satisfaction.

Kim Seongcheol, Head of IPA Logistics Business Office, said, "We hope to find the optimal utilization plan for idle land through the operation of the working group," adding, "We will continuously discover and utilize underused land to contribute to improving residents' living environment and regional development."
