[Asia Economy Reporter Noo Rae Noh] "Easier, faster."
Titleist has newly introduced the new TSR driver and fairway woods. The drivers come in three models: TSR2, TSR3 (pictured), and TSR4. The fairway woods include TSR2, TSR2+, and TSR3. They made their debut at the PGA Tour Travelers Championship (total prize money $8.3 million), which concluded on the 27th at River Highlands TPC in Cromwell, Connecticut (par 70, 6,852 yards).
Currently, the tour seeding and validation process for affiliated players is underway. Eighteen players chose the driver, and thirteen selected the fairway woods. It is interesting that Jordan Spieth (USA), known for his cautious club changes, put the TSR3 driver in his caddie bag. J.T. Poston, the 2019 Wyndham Championship winner, and Lanto Griffin, the Houston Open champion (both USA), praised the new equipment.
Poston, who "used the driver and 3-wood," said, "I liked the high launch angle and low spin," adding, "The sound of the strike was also good." He added, "Ball speed increased from 171 mph to 173 mph," and "Distance, sound, and feel have improved compared to the TSi." Griffin, who said the "3-wood was really amazing," analyzed, "The address feels comfortable," and "The ball flew straight and solid."
TSR is an acronym. T stands for Titleist, S for Speed, and R is not yet disclosed. The head and grip are all designed to be ultra-lightweight, boasting a high launch angle and overwhelming distance. The driver features an improved aerodynamic design that catches the eye. It incorporates SureFit hosel and weight technology. The setup is easy, and the low center of gravity leads to forgiveness. Compared to previous models, it feels sleeker.
