[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The transition committee for the 8th term Incheon mayor announced on the 20th that it has requested a suspension of the new recruitment of employees at the Incheon Cultural Foundation and the selection of private members for the Architectural Artworks Review Committee.
According to the transition committee, the Incheon Cultural Foundation announced on the 14th the recruitment of a total of 11 employees at grade 3 and grade 5 levels, and will accept applications from the 20th until July 4th.
In this regard, the transition committee requested the Cultural Foundation to suspend the new recruitment.
Incheon City was also scheduled to hold a selection committee meeting on the 20th to select 46 private members for the Architectural Artworks Review Committee. The transition committee requested a postponement of this as well.
A representative of the transition committee explained, "Since Mayor-elect Yoo Jeong-bok was confirmed elected on June 1st and his inauguration is set for July 1st, we requested a delay in employee recruitment and the selection of various committee members. We considered that the new city government should judge whether new recruitment is appropriate and that various committee members need to understand and sympathize with the values and philosophy of the city government to some extent."
Prior to this, the transition committee had requested Incheon City to refrain from personnel transfers such as new recruitment, major policy decisions, and service contract orders.
Meanwhile, the Incheon Cultural Foundation appointed former Chung-Ang University Department of Fine Arts professor Lee Jong-gu as its CEO on February 26.
However, one day before the appointment of the new CEO, the former CEO promoted five executives, including the head of the Arts Support Headquarters and the head of the Regional Culture Headquarters, sparking controversy over the appropriateness of the move.
