"Capture Consumer Trust"... Food and Dining Industry Actively Utilizes Domestic Ingredients

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] As summer begins, interest in food safety is increasing. The food and dining industry is actively using domestically produced ingredients with guaranteed safety to enhance consumer trust and continue a "two birds with one stone" approach that promotes coexistence with domestic farms.

According to the industry on the 19th, Pizza Alvolo has been making "black rice dough" using eco-friendly black rice from Jindo since signing a business agreement with the "Jindo Black Rice Production and Distribution Agricultural Corporation" in 2015.

The black rice used in the black rice dough is organic black rice grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. It is made into dough at the Icheon dough factory in Gyeonggi Province, then undergoes a low-temperature aging process before being delivered to each store.

Pizza Alvolo also actively uses domestic ingredients such as Imshil cheese produced in Imshil County, Jeollabuk-do, and hot sauce made with peppers from Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, continuing its efforts for mutual growth with domestic farms.

Orion produces fresh potato chips "Pocachip" and "Swingchip" using domestically grown new potatoes. From this month until December, they plan to use domestic potatoes harvested from famous potato-producing regions such as Boseong in Jeollanam-do, Dangjin in Chungnam, and Yanggu in Gangwon-do. They have secured about 18,000 tons of domestic potatoes through contracts with over 390 excellent farms nationwide.

Additionally, through contract farming, they guarantee stable income for farmers and carry out various mutual growth activities such as spreading farming technology and supporting agricultural machinery.

Caffe Bene has introduced new summer season menus filled with fresh domestic ingredients such as Hallabong and black sesame. These menus allow customers to enjoy the rich flavors and distinctive tastes of regional specialties in a cool and sweet way.

They launched three beverages filled with the sweet and sour Jeju Hallabong, including "Jeju Hallabong Gelato Ade" and "Jeju Hallabong Grapefruit Gelato Ade," as well as four bingsu (shaved ice) menus such as "Our Black Sesame Bingsu" and "Chodang Corn Bingsu," realizing the original taste of the ingredients.

An industry official said, "Reflecting consumers' interest in food safety, the industry is actively using domestic ingredients," adding, "Securing consumer trust as well as coexistence with domestic farms is an effective way to establish a positive corporate image."
