[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Se-ryeong] The 18th Gyeongnam 119 Firefighting Children's Song Contest was held on the 17th at the Gyeongsangnam-do Safety Experience Center.

The event was organized to instill safety awareness in children through firefighting children's songs and was held in person for the first time in two years.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, a total of 628 participants took part, including 15 teams from the kindergarten division and 10 teams from the elementary division, and the contest was broadcast live in real-time on the headquarters' official YouTube channel, Gyeongnam Fire.

Judged by five external experts including professors from local music graduate schools, the teams from Uiryeong Kindergarten and Sinan Elementary School in Jinju City won the grand prize.

The two grand prize-winning teams will represent Gyeongnam Province at the National 119 Firefighting Children's Song Contest, which will be held over two days starting October 5 at the Sejong Arts Center.

Kim Jong-geun, head of the Fire Headquarters, said, "As this is the first in-person contest in two years, I hope it became an opportunity for children to freely sing and dance about safety," adding, "We will continue to develop various programs so that children can learn and enjoy while acquiring safety knowledge."
