[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] On the 13th, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that Dongrak Jeombbang Social Cooperative was selected as an excellent village enterprise that contributes to job creation and solving local problems by utilizing local resources, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Among 31 village enterprises recommended from nationwide cities and provinces, 16 were finally selected as excellent village enterprises through document screening, on-site evaluation, and presentation evaluation.
Excellent village enterprises receive up to 70 million KRW for product development, infrastructure expansion, and promotion/marketing expenses.
Dongrak Jeombbang Social Cooperative in Myoryang-myeon (CEO Lee Munjae), selected as an excellent village enterprise, has 370 local residents participating as members and was established to facilitate residents who have difficulty purchasing daily necessities due to the absence of convenience stores and marts, which are basic living infrastructure.
They operate a mobile store visiting 42 villages once a week using the village enterprise vehicle, and also run a permanent store, Dongrak Jeombbang, in the township area.
All profits from activities are returned to improving village welfare, and during mobile store visits, they also check on the well-being of elderly living alone, contributing to enhancing residents' convenience and providing welfare services within the community, which was recognized as a contribution to the local society.
A representative of Dongrak Jeombbang Social Cooperative said, “We are happy and honored that our stubbornness to persist for the villagers despite difficulties is now shining. With this project fund, we will replace the aging mobile store vehicle and strive even more to improve residents' convenience.”
