[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Hyundai Heavy Industries Group showcases eco-friendly future technologies tailored for the 'Net Zero' (zero carbon emissions) era at the world's largest shipbuilding and offshore exhibition.
Hyundai Heavy Industries Group announced on the 7th that five affiliates?Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, Hyundai Global Service, and Hyundai Electric?participated in '2022 Posidonia,' held from the 6th to the 10th (local time) in Athens, Greece.
Marking its 27th edition this year, Posidonia is considered one of the world's top three shipbuilding and offshore exhibitions alongside Norway's Nor-Shipping and Germany's International Maritime Trade Fair. This exhibition, held for the first time in four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attracted participants from 100 countries and over 2,000 companies.
At the exhibition, the group displayed eco-friendly vessels such as liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ships and LNG bunkering vessels that comply with global environmental regulations, and introduced next-generation low-carbon fuel technologies related to methanol and ethane.
Additionally, they plan to hold technical seminars on the 7th and 8th to highlight their differentiated eco-friendly technological capabilities.
Hyundai Global Service, the group's ship service specialist company, will present carbon dioxide reduction and LNG-FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) conversion technologies during the seminar.
The solution to convert aging LNG carriers into offshore LNG terminals like FSRUs is expected to attract attention as it can quickly respond to the recently increasing LNG demand, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group stated.
Key executives, including Vice Chairman Ga Samhyun and President Jeong Kiseon of Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, as well as Vice Chairman Han Youngseok and Park Seungyong, Head of Ship & Offshore Sales Division of Hyundai Heavy Industries, attended the exhibition to discuss mutual cooperation plans with European customers.
Vice Chairman Ga said, "Posidonia will be an opportunity to once again imprint Hyundai Heavy Industries Group's excellent technological capabilities on the global shipping and shipbuilding market."
