[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Park Hyeja, candidate for Superintendent of Education of Gwangju Metropolitan City, held an all-out campaign on the 25th at the Imbangul-daero intersection in Suwan-dong, Gwangsan-gu.
Riding on the campaign vehicle that day, Candidate Park emphasized that she would bridge the skill gap between regions and achieve a skilled Gwangju with the heart of a mother who never gives up on her child's education.
She also promised to establish a watertight and dense educational welfare safety net to eliminate marginalized groups.
Candidate Park stated, "The educational gap due to wealth disparity is widening, but in Gwangju, no one will give up education because of financial issues," and emphasized, "We will establish a legal foundation for marginalized groups such as children who have suffered from child abuse and out-of-school youth to eliminate welfare blind spots."
She intends to create an environment and conditions so that schools can be the safest and happiest place for children.
She also promised to work hard to ensure balanced nutrition for students at the critical growing age.
She said, "We will provide '100-won breakfast lunchboxes' to elementary, middle, and high school students," adding, "The remaining costs will be borne by the Office of Education and local governments."
She also said, "We plan to support free meals in kindergarten after-school programs and care classrooms even during vacations to enhance student welfare."
She explained her pledge to relocate the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, currently located in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, to Gwangsan-gu.
Candidate Park emphasized, "The Gwangju Office of Education building is surrounded by large-scale housing complexes, causing continuous parking difficulties for visitors, and the interior is saturated due to lack of space. Not only is there an education site in Gwangsan-gu, but Gwangsan-gu also has ample land. The relocation budget is estimated at about 100 billion won, and relocation is possible within the term."
Additionally, she stated, "An AI (Artificial Intelligence) gifted school and a school integration support center will be built on the current Office of Education site."
