[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] SKC announced on the 25th that it has signed a business agreement with the global outdoor company BYN Black Yak to establish a sustainable resource circulation system and promote an eco-friendly culture.
Both companies agreed to expand the production of eco-friendly products and work together to support the growth of startups and small and medium-sized enterprises with excellent material technologies. They will also collaborate to build a resource circulation ecosystem and develop products based on eco-friendly materials. The signing ceremony was attended by key executives from both companies, including Park Won-chul, President of SKC, and Kang Tae-sun, Chairman of Black Yak.
Black Yak will participate in SKC's "New Material Technology-Based Open Platform" to help revitalize the material industry ecosystem in South Korea. The Open Platform is a shared infrastructure operated by SKC since 2017 in cooperation with leading specialized organizations in various fields such as the Ulsan Creative Economy Innovation Center and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, to support the commercialization of promising startups in the materials sector. Black Yak supports the commercialization of eco-friendly material businesses of participating companies.
They will also strive to spread an eco-friendly culture. Both companies will integrate "My Green Place," which educates on proper plastic waste separation, into the BAC hiking program "Clean Mountain," where participants collect trash while hiking, to promote a more accurate waste separation culture.
SKC plans to establish a PET bottle collection system at its business sites and carry out campaigns such as a resource circulation project that produces uniforms from collected waste PET bottles.
An SKC official said, "By combining SKC's competitive eco-friendly material technology with Black Yak's capabilities in eco-friendly consumer goods, we can create better products and a stronger eco-friendly ecosystem," adding, "We will do our best to develop ESG material solutions that contribute to solving plastic problems and to spread an eco-friendly culture."
