[Agyeong Hit Product] Shinan 'Hydrangea Park' Captures Both Tourism and Income

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Hydrangea Park on Dochodo Island in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, which was completed in 2014, began by purchasing the site of the closed Seo Elementary School to create a unique attraction and experience area.

Visiting Dochodo Hydrangea Park involves crossing the Cheonsa Bridge and then returning by boat, which can be inconvenient, but the anticipation of seeing beautiful hydrangeas while overlooking the refreshing sea can relieve stress.

This summer, more than 8 million hydrangea flowers in various colors such as white, blue, pink, and purple, planted across the 13-hectare Hydrangea Park and the 10-ri Road of the premium Zelkova tree fantasy garden, are expected to cool down tourists from the heat.

Although the Island Hydrangea Festival has not been held since 2020 due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, numerous visitors have continued to come to see the summer hydrangeas. Walking along the paths of 8 million island hydrangeas, the fantasy garden, the 10-ri Road of Zelkova trees, and the agricultural waterways helped soothe the village frustrated by COVID-19. Especially this year, the Island Hydrangea Festival, which signals the arrival of summer, is scheduled to be held, raising greater expectations. The Island Hydrangea Festival has established itself as a new model that goes beyond a simple flower festival to become a space for rest for tourists and residents, as well as contributing to residents' tourism income.
