Help in Relieving Depression and Stress Caused by COVID-19, High Participant Satisfaction
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, is gaining attention for operating a healing program called ‘Five-Sense Healing Meditation Becoming One with the Earth’ at the local attraction Myeongsasimni Beach.
According to the county on the 23rd, from the 21st to the 22nd, a two-day marine healing program titled ‘Spring, Wind, and Healing’ was held, and the May program ‘Five-Sense Healing Meditation Becoming One with the Earth’ was conducted.
The program consisted of five-sense healing meditation, flower tea tasting, and about 60 participants including tourists and residents from Seoul, Muan, and other areas took part.
The five-sense healing meditation included ‘barefoot walking (earthing meditation)’ which helps expel active oxygen inside the body, ‘body stretching,’ and ‘spacing out’ while listening to white noise such as the sound of waves and nature to let go of thoughts.
‘Barefoot walking’ is a meditation perfect for healing the body and mind of modern people by relieving depression and stress caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Walking barefoot along the coast allows participants to inhale marine aerosols, feel the cool seawater and sand textures, and experience the refreshing sound of waves and sea breeze with their whole body, which helps stabilize the mind and body.
A participant in the program said, “While doing barefoot walking meditation and spacing out meditation, I focused on nature and felt free from unnecessary thoughts and stress.”
A participant from Seoul said, “The scenery was beautiful, and meditating by walking barefoot along the clean beach was an unforgettable experience in my life, and I had a happy time after a long while.”
A county official said, “We measured the electrical potential inside each participant’s body before and after meditation and confirmed that the current causing oxidative damage in all participants’ bodies decreased after the meditation,” adding, “We will expand marine healing experiences for those struggling with various diseases, stress, and COVID-19 due to bodily imbalance.”
The county will hold the June marine healing experience of ‘Spring, Wind, and Healing’ on the 24th and 25th of next month and is recruiting 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
