[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Nayeon] On the 20th, when U.S. President Joe Biden, who visited Korea the day before, visited the Samsung Semiconductor Campus in Pyeongtaek with President Yoon Suk-yeol as his first schedule, Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong's fluent English skills attracted attention.

On that day, Vice Chairman Lee delivered a welcome speech in English before the joint speech of the two leaders held at Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek Campus.

Lee took the podium and said, "It is an honor to personally host President Yoon Suk-yeol and President Joe Biden," adding, "I would like to extend a warm welcome for coming to the Pyeongtaek Semiconductor Campus, the largest and most advanced manufacturing plant in the world."

He continued, "Samsung Electronics is a global company that started manufacturing semiconductors in the United States 25 years ago," and said, "We value this friendship and hope to continue developing it."

Vice Chairman Lee said, "Semiconductors are the engine of everything, driving growth and creating many opportunities," and expressed gratitude, saying, "This innovation can be attributed to the dedication and great efforts of Team Samsung members in Korea, the United States, and around the world."

After finishing the welcome speech, Vice Chairman Lee guided President Yoon and President Biden onto the stage.

In the comments on the released welcome speech video, many praised Vice Chairman Lee's English skills with remarks such as "Proud" and "So cool and moving."

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman Lee, known to be fluent in English and Japanese, was indicted on charges of 'unfair merger' and was scheduled for a trial on the 20th but was absent due to his visit to the Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek plant.

The court proceeded with the scheduled witness examination on the 20th without Lee's attendance and decided to notify the results later.
