8 Cities and Counties, 360 Locations Targeted... Expecting Livestock Environment Improvement
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 6th that it will invest 18 billion KRW in the livestock odor improvement project this year to promote environmentally friendly livestock farming through proper treatment of livestock manure and odor reduction.
According to the province, the livestock odor improvement project is led by city and county governments to establish investment plans for livestock manure treatment and odor reduction, and is supported through public contests and evaluations by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The project is broadly divided into the fields of manure resource recycling, manure treatment facilities, and odor reduction facilities.
Jeonbuk Province plans to first invest 13.8 billion KRW in 308 locations for resource recycling facilities and equipment such as composting barns and skid loaders related to manure resource recycling.
Additionally, 3.1 billion KRW will be poured into 13 locations for manure treatment facilities and equipment such as purification treatment and compost spreaders, and 1.1 billion KRW will be invested in 37 locations for odor reduction facilities and equipment such as mist spraying facilities and bio curtains.
This year’s investment scale for livestock odor improvement has expanded by 85% compared to last year.
Jeonbuk Province expects that this will further accelerate the improvement of the livestock environment, including proper treatment of livestock manure at farms and expansion of odor reduction facilities.
Meanwhile, as the public contest procedure for selecting project recipients for 2023 is currently underway, Jeonbuk Province plans to make efforts to ensure that as many applying cities and counties as possible are selected through solid project planning and response.
