Gwangju City Election Commission Conducts Election Education for Disabled Voters Ahead of June 1 Local Elections

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission announced on the 1st that it conducted the 'Election Education and Mock Voting Experience Program for Disabled Voters' to ensure the voting rights of disabled voters ahead of the local elections to be held on June 1.

This training was conducted a total of four times from April 20 to 28 at the Dong-gu, Seo-gu, and Nam-gu Disabled Welfare Centers and the Buk-gu Disabled Welfare Facility, Gagyo Happiness Villa, targeting voters with developmental disabilities.

The Gwangju Election Commission specially designed this training content as a customized democratic citizenship education program for the proper exercise of voting rights by disabled voters in preparation for the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections, providing education on the importance of election participation, the one-person seven-vote system voting method, and overall election procedures, along with a mock voting experience.

A representative of the Gwangju Election Commission stated, "We hope that through this training, disabled voters will find it less difficult to vote and be able to participate in elections more easily," adding, "We plan to continue providing customized education to expand voting participation among vulnerable groups in the future."
