Jeon Chang-gon Yeosu Mayor Preliminary Candidate Demands Mayor Kwon Oh-bong to Explain 'Close Associate L Secretary-General Allegations'

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeon Chang-gon, a preliminary candidate for Yeosu mayor, demanded an explanation, saying, "Preliminary candidate Kwon Oh-bong should directly clarify his position" regarding the suspicion of 'L Secretary General proxy registration of party members' involving a close aide during Kwon Oh-bong's tenure as mayor.

On the 21st, Jeon Chang-gon issued a statement demanding that "Preliminary candidate Kwon Oh-bong clearly clarify whether he directly instructed the recruitment and registration of party members by his close aide, Secretary General L, who is suspected of violating political neutrality during his tenure as mayor."

Jeon said, "If the suspicion involving candidate Kwon's close aide is proven true, the Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party's Public Office Candidate Recommendation Management Committee's decision to nominate candidates based on the primary candidates and rules announced on the 19th will seriously damage the party's clarity and values."

Therefore, he stated that on the 19th, he submitted a petition to the Jeonnam Provincial Party Chairman and the Public Office Candidate Recommendation Committee Chairman demanding that the Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party conduct a thorough investigation and, if the suspicion is confirmed, disqualify preliminary candidate Kwon Oh-bong, and hold the primary election based 100% on general citizen opinion polls excluding illegally registered and recruited party members.

Jeon also defined the related suspicion against preliminary candidate Kwon Oh-bong as a serious violation of the Local Public Officials Act and the Public Official Election Act, calling it an 'authoritarian election' involving the mobilization of public officials, and strongly demanded responsible measures from the Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party's Public Office Candidate Recommendation Committee.
