[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that it selected three outstanding public officials for proactive administration and county government innovation in the second half of last year.
The Excellence Award went to Jung Mi-mi, administrative officer of the Resident Welfare Division (Social Welfare Grade 7), the Encouragement Award to Seong Ye-won, administrative officer of Beolgyo-eup (Administration Grade 9), and the Facility Management Office’s Yoon Ju-young, Facility Operation Section Chief 1 (Tax Grade 6).
Jung Mi-mi, who received the Excellence Award, promoted the follow-up project to Boseong 600 called “We Take Care of Elderly Living Alone in Our Neighborhood.”
Through this project, Boseong-gun provided public-private cooperative care services by confirming the well-being, supporting daily life, and connecting resources for elderly people aged 65 or older living alone through partnerships with village chiefs’ councils and volunteer groups such as Saemaeul Association.
Additionally, they discovered elderly living alone suffering from adverse symptoms after COVID-19 vaccination and transported them to hospitals, actively checking on the elderly during the COVID-19 pandemic and taking action in five cases.
Seong Ye-won of Beolgyo-eup, who received the Encouragement Award, worked to resolve residents’ inconvenience in road use caused by illegal street vending that had continued for over 40 years.
They addressed the issue through joint public-private guidance and cooperation with local social organizations, relocating illegal street vendors to permitted areas within the 5-day market.
This ensured stable business operations for existing street vendors. Furthermore, they installed barriers separating the roadway and sidewalks, greatly contributing to the revitalization of the 5-day market.
Yoon Ju-young, Facility Operation Section Chief 1 of the Facility Management Office, solved the problem of long-term vacancy of the T-ball Center, completed in May 2020, which had no operating entity due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Through active promotion and continuous search for operators, the center was able to open last December as the “Dahyang Art Valley,” a tea culture complex center.
In particular, they branded the “Nokdon Samhap” menu, which pairs the Boseong Nokdon pork brand with local specialties such as potatoes and chive kimchi.
Through this, they signed supply contracts with local agricultural product companies including Nokdon pork farms and potato farms, providing a stable distribution network for farmers, and contributed to local job creation by hiring about 20 operational staff.
The selection of outstanding public officials for proactive administration and county government innovation in the second half of last year was conducted through practical evaluation of proactiveness, creativity, and expertise among department nominees, online public evaluation, staff voting, and final review by the Proactive Administration Committee.
A Boseong-gun official said, “We will strive to implement field-centered administration that residents can feel through creative and proactive administration in the rapidly changing administrative environment due to COVID-19 and other factors.”
