[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] It has been revealed that when Jeong Ho-young, the nominee for Minister of Health and Welfare,’s daughter, Jeong Mo, took the transfer exam for Kyungpook National University College of Medicine in 2017, acquaintances close to Jeong participated as evaluators and gave her a perfect score in the oral evaluation.
Following the controversy surrounding Jeong’s son, there is expected to be intensified debate over whether his daughter also used 'Dad’s chance.' Jeong served as the director of Kyungpook National University Hospital from 2017 to 2020.
According to a report by a media outlet on the day, three evaluators, including Professor Park Tae-in, who was then the vice dean of Kyungpook National University College of Medicine, gave Jeong a perfect score of 20 points each in the same examination room.
The oral evaluation was conducted with a total of nine professors interviewing the examinees. The other five evaluators gave Jeong 17 points each, and one gave 19 points. The oral evaluation was the final stage of the transfer exam.
Among the three who gave perfect scores, Professor Park was an alumnus of Kyungpook National University College of Medicine along with Jeong, and in 2018, during Jeong’s son’s transfer exam to the same college, he gave 28 out of 30 points in the document screening stage.
The other two professors were co-authors who had written several papers together with Jeong.
They also gave high scores of 29 and 28 points respectively during the document screening for Jeong’s son’s transfer exam.
There are also suspicions that Jeong’s son was admitted to Kyungpook National University College of Medicine in 2018 by submitting the same documents that had been rejected the previous year.
According to materials submitted by Kyungpook National University to the office of Democratic Party lawmaker Kang Seon-woo, Jeong submitted her transcript from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Kyungpook National University, official English test scores (TEPS), records of participation in papers, and scholarship awards on October 12, 2017, as documents for the 2018 transfer application.
However, all the career records listed in the documents were prepared before October 2016, the deadline for submitting transfer documents for the 2017 academic year, raising suspicions that the same documents might have been submitted during the unsuccessful 2017 transfer application as well.
