Understanding Illegal Usage Status and Supporting Investigations
On the 14th, the Korea Creative Content Agency signed a copyright protection business agreement with the Korea Game Industry Association, the Game Rating and Administration Committee, the Korea Copyright Commission, and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency to promote the game industry. Moving forward, they will jointly implement measures to protect game copyrights, including ▲sharing data and jointly producing and distributing content ▲education, briefings, counseling and consulting, and promotion ▲identifying the actual conditions of illegal use ▲supporting investigations to punish illegal producers and operators. This response was prepared in response to the growing threat posed by damages caused by illegal game piracy. In the first half of last year, domestic game exports accounted for 67.6% of total content industry exports. Research and development and software copyrights, including games, also contributed significantly to achieving a trade surplus in the entire copyright sector with a surplus of 1.7 billion dollars. However, according to last year's "Copyright Protection Annual Report," the amount of illegal game piracy reached 11,708 cases, an increase of 23.5% compared to the previous year. It is mainly distributed through private servers and torrents, making it difficult to respond. Cho Hyun-rae, president of the Korea Creative Content Agency, said, "We will share experiences and resources among institutions and cooperate organically on various levels."
