According to the legal community on the 11th, A (53), who was indicted for violating the Special Act on the Treatment of Traffic Accidents (causing death), was sentenced to six months in prison with a one-year suspension.
A was tried on charges of hitting and killing a pedestrian (52) crossing a crosswalk while making a left turn on a road in Nam-gu around 7:30 p.m. on September 5 last year.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital after colliding with the left front bumper of the passenger car but died from "traumatic subdural hemorrhage."
The court explained, "Due to negligence in properly checking the front and left and right sides, a serious result occurred with the victim's death."
However, the court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "He confessed to the crime, deeply reflected on his wrongdoing, and considering that it was raining and nighttime at the time of the accident, which limited visibility, and that he reached an amicable settlement with the bereaved family, favorable circumstances were taken into account."
