[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongseo University and global game company Wemade signed a donation agreement for the Wemix (WEMIX) cryptocurrency development fund at Wemade headquarters.
Wemade decided to donate Wemix cryptocurrency worth 1 billion KRW to support Dongseo University's research and academic activities, including blockchain technology.
Dongseo University plans to use Wemix cryptocurrency in the educational programs of the SW-centered university project group and its self-developed metaverse platform to provide benefits to students active in the metaverse.
The development fund will be used to nurture talent and explore development plans such as recruitment for mutual progress.
Cryptocurrency donations incorporating blockchain technology are a global trend. They are actively carried out in various fields worldwide, including famous universities in the United States and cultural heritage restoration in France.
Jang Hyun-guk, CEO of Wemade, said, "The relationship that began two years ago at G-Star with mask donations has continued to Wemix donations," adding, "Wemade will continue to play a role in nurturing blockchain technology talent that will innovate all fields."
Jang Je-guk, president of Dongseo University, said, "Wemade's establishment of a global open platform linking games and blockchain aligns with Dongseo University's pursuit of IT-integrated cultural content specialization," and added, "We plan to actively utilize Wemix in Dongseo University's metaverse platform."
