[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The Joe Biden administration in the United States will exempt tariffs on certain Chinese-made products.
The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced on the 23rd (local time) that out of 549 Chinese-made products subject to tariffs, 352 items will be granted tariff exemptions again.
Previously, the United States imposed tariffs on Chinese products in 2018 during the Donald Trump administration, leading to trade conflicts with China. However, since the Biden administration took office, it has been publicly collecting opinions to reapply tariff exemptions.
The current tariff benefits include a variety of manufacturing parts and consumer goods, ranging from television screen components to backpacks, bicycles, and pillows.
USTR explained, "This decision was made after consultation and careful consideration with other agencies," and that tariff benefits will include Chinese seafood products, as well as chemicals, textiles, electronics, and consumer goods.
