On the 22nd, Asia Economy held a shareholders' meeting and board of directors meeting to appoint Woo Byung-hyun, Chairman of Asia Economy's Future Strategy Committee (58, photo), as the head of the media division and publisher/editor-in-chief.
The newly appointed CEO Woo graduated from Busan Gaya High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Political Science. He entered the media industry in 1991 by joining Chosun Ilbo. He later served as head of the IT team in the Industrial Department of Chosun Ilbo, director of the Digital Strategy Office, managing director of Chosun Biz, and CEO of IT Chosun.
In 2006, he briefly left the media industry to found a video platform venture company (Mgoon), gaining hands-on experience in venture management. Since 2015, he has served as president of the Korea IT Journalists Club, a non-profit organization, promoting tech journalism development projects.
His major authored and translated works include "Digital is Capital," "Digital Media and Journalism," "Misha, the 3,300 Won Myth," "The Secret of Google's Success Myth," "Citizen Marketer," "Insight Knowledge Dictionary," "Becoming the Best Google User at Work," and "Industrialization Was Late, But Let's Lead in Informatization."
