[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A man in his 60s, who was wearing an electronic tracking device (electronic anklet), was arrested by the police on charges of sexually assaulting an elementary school student who came to buy 'Pokemon Bread'.
The Suwon Southern Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that they have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 60s, Mr. A, on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (forcible molestation of a person under 13 years old).
Mr. A is accused of forcibly molesting an 11-year-old elementary school girl, Ms. B, who came to buy Pokemon Bread at a convenience store he operates in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City, around 8 p.m. on the 20th. Pokemon Bread is a product that has recently become popular among elementary school students.
At the time, Mr. A reportedly lured Ms. B, who was looking for Pokemon Bread, into the convenience store's storage room under the pretense of helping her find the bread, and then committed the crime. Ms. B was said to have been alone in the convenience store while her father, Mr. C, who had accompanied her, briefly stepped away to take care of something.
Immediately after the incident, Ms. B left the convenience store and informed Mr. C of the assault. The police, who arrived following Mr. C's report, arrested Mr. A in the act.
Mr. A is known to have admitted most of the charges during the police investigation. Although he was wearing an electronic anklet due to a previous sex crime conviction, it was confirmed that he did not violate any restrictions related to going out.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the specific details of the case.
