[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] DJ Koo Jun-yeop, formerly of the male duo Clon, announced his marriage to Taiwanese actress Su Hiwon (Xu Xiyuan).
On the 8th, Koo Jun-yeop posted on his social network service (SNS), "I am trying to continue a love that was left unresolved with the woman I loved 20 years ago," adding, "Since this is a late marriage, I ask for your support and blessings."
Previously, in 2010, Koo Jun-yeop confessed on a broadcast that he had dated Su Hiwon for about a year in the past. The two recently reunited and reportedly completed their marriage registration earlier this month.
Koo Jun-yeop said, "After hearing about Su Hiwon's divorce, I looked for that phone number from 20 years ago and contacted her. Fortunately, the number was still the same, so we were able to reconnect," adding, "Since a lot of time has already passed and we could not waste any more, I proposed marriage, and we decided to register our marriage and live together."
Koo Jun-yeop debuted in 1990 with 'Hyun Jin-young and Wawa' and in 1996 formed the male duo Clon with Kang Won-rae. They gained popularity with songs such as 'Kung Dari Shabara,' 'Choryeon,' and 'Funky Tonight,' and were loved as first-generation Hallyu stars in the Chinese-speaking world. He is currently active as a DJ.
Su Hiwon is a well-known actress in Korea for her role as Shan Cai in the 2001 Taiwanese version of 'Boys Over Flowers,' titled 'Meteor Garden,' and appeared in films such as 'A Chinese Ghost Story 2003.' She married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had one son and one daughter, but divorced last year.
