[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] The YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' (Gaseyeon) has reported Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, to the prosecution for allegedly receiving bribes worth approximately 13.8 million KRW.
According to the legal community on the 30th, Gaseyeon filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in the afternoon on the same day, accusing Lee of mediation bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
On the 27th, Gaseyeon claimed through a YouTube broadcast, "Lee received sexual favors from Kim Sung-jin, CEO of i-Kist, at a hotel in Daejeon in 2013. This was confirmed through investigation materials from the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office."
In response, Lee stated, "The allegations made by Gaseyeon are not true," and the day before, he filed a defamation lawsuit against Gaseyeon cast members lawyer Kang Yong-seok and former reporter Kim Se-ui at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul for defamation by false information under the Information and Communications Network Act.
In the complaint filed that day, Gaseyeon alleged, "In July and August 2013, Lee, as a member of the Emergency Response Committee of the Grand National Party, the predecessor of the People Power Party, received sexual favors from CEO Kim under the pretext of mediating to then-President Park Geun-hye and others, as well as a cosmetics set worth approximately 9 million KRW."
They added, "From Chuseok 2013 to Chuseok 2015, over three years, he received gifts worth about 2.5 million KRW, approximately 500,000 KRW each Lunar New Year and Chuseok."
Gaseyeon attached investigation records from the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office as evidence regarding the sexual favor allegations. They also submitted lists of cosmetics and holiday gift receipts along with the complaint. Additionally, the complaint and related evidence were submitted to the People Power Party Ethics Committee.
