[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Thursday the 30th will be cold, with morning temperatures dropping below minus 10 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country. A cold wave warning has been issued from 9 p.m. on the 29th for northern Gyeonggi and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and it may expand to the central and southern regions.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 29th, cold air will descend from the north starting tonight, causing temperatures to drop further. On the 30th, morning temperatures are expected to fall below minus 10 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Gyeonggi and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon. From the 31st and the 1st of next month, other central regions and southern inland areas will also experience morning temperatures below minus 10 degrees Celsius. Additionally, strong winds will make the perceived temperature even lower.

The lowest temperatures tomorrow morning will range from minus 12 to minus 1 degrees Celsius, and the highest daytime temperatures will be between minus 2 and 6 degrees Celsius. On the 31st and the 1st of next month, the lowest temperatures are expected to drop to minus 16 and 17 degrees Celsius. Snow is forecast for the Chungnam region and Jeolla region around dawn or morning tomorrow. Rain or snow is also expected in southern Gyeonggi, inland Gyeongbuk, and some western parts of Gyeongnam tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Expected snowfall amounts are 10 to 30 cm on Ulleungdo and Dokdo until the 31st, and 3 to 10 cm in the Chungnam region and northern parts of Jeonbuk and Jeonnam. Southwestern Gyeonggi and the five western islands are expected to receive around 1 cm, and the southern metropolitan area less than 0.1 cm. The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "Snow cloud bands formed by the temperature difference over the West Sea will further develop, causing heavy snow of 3 to 5 cm per hour along the western coast of Chungnam and inland northern Jeonbuk and Jeonnam, leading to significant accumulation in some areas."
