[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] BTS member Suga (Min Yoon-gi) has tested positive for COVID-19.


According to his agency HYBE on the 24th, Suga tested positive in a COVID-19 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test conducted immediately after returning to Korea, and was notified of the positive result while in self-quarantine that morning.


The agency stated, "Suga completed his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the end of August," adding, "He has no particular symptoms and is currently undergoing home treatment according to the guidelines of the health authorities."


Recently, Suga finished the concert 'BTS Permission to Dance On Stage - LA' in Los Angeles, USA, spent some personal time, and returned to Korea on the 23rd.


Meanwhile, other BTS members underwent COVID-19 tests sequentially after returning to Korea, and some are currently in self-quarantine.

BTS member Suga tested negative in a PCR test before departing the US and, after arriving in Korea on the 23rd (Thursday), underwent a PCR test and entered self-quarantine. On the morning of the 24th (Friday), he was confirmed positive for COVID-19 while in self-quarantine.


Suga completed his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the end of August and currently shows no particular symptoms. He is undergoing home treatment following the health authorities' guidelines.


During BTS’s official vacation period, Suga spent personal time in the US. He tested negative in the PCR test conducted before leaving the US and followed quarantine procedures by taking a PCR test immediately upon return and entering self-quarantine. Since he was notified of the positive result during self-quarantine, there was no contact between Suga and other members.


The company will prioritize the artist’s health and safety and will do its best to support Suga’s swift recovery. We will also sincerely cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the health authorities.
