Opening of a Retro-Themed Tourist Experience Center in Baegun Market, Ssangmun-dong, Filming and Setting Location of Global Hit Drama Squid Game... Creating an Interactive Space Using Costumes and Props from the Movie to Promote Tourism and Revitalize Baegun Market Alley Businesses

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) established the 'Squid Game Experience Center' (493-5 Ssangmun-dong) within Baegun Market in Ssangmun-dong, which has rapidly risen as a filming location and backdrop for the hit Netflix drama 'Squid Game,' on the 17th.

The newly opened 'Squid Game Experience Center' is located directly opposite the actual drama site of 'Sang-woo's Fish Store' (real Paldo Dried Seafood). At the opening ceremony, the Dobong-gu mayor, Baegun Market merchants' association, and others participated, held a plaque unveiling ceremony, and spent time demonstrating the programs firsthand with residents who visited the site.

At this experience center, props from the drama such as training suits and manager uniforms are displayed, allowing visitors to directly experience popular scenes like dalgona candy and marbles. Both the interior and exterior of the center are visually designed to reflect the drama Squid Game, also serving as a photo zone.

Through this experience center, the district plans to introduce filming locations of 'Squid Game' in Ssangmun-dong, as well as filming sites of 'Reply 1988' and 'Goblin,' while also promoting cultural facilities in Dobong-gu.

The Squid Game Experience Center will operate temporarily until January next year, open from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and Sundays, and from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Detailed operating hours depending on the COVID-19 situation will be separately announced on the Dobong-gu website. (Operating hours for 2022 will be announced on January 8 on the Dobong-gu website.)

Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu stated, “Dobong-gu has many filming locations for various dramas and movies, including Reply 1988, Goblin, and Squid Game. I hope many people visit through this experience center, revitalizing Baegun Market and the local commercial district. I also ask everyone to strictly follow quarantine rules when using the experience center and during tourism.”
