[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Data and network security company Plantynet announced on the 20th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with communication service solution provider Entels to jointly develop "5G MEC-based harmful-security content filtering technology and business models."
Through this agreement, the two companies will develop proactive response solutions specialized for security threats that may arise in the 5G MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing) environment. They plan to provide stable security services to enterprises in network environments with increasing uncertainties such as 5G, cloud, and metaverse. MEC is an ultra-low latency technology that processes communication data close to the user to increase transmission and reception speeds, considered a core technology in the 5G era. As the digital transformation speed of domestic and international companies accelerates and the MEC ecosystem expands, the need to proactively analyze, detect, and respond to security threats has also greatly increased.
Plantynet will focus on developing filtering technology capable of detecting and responding to potential harmful and malicious traffic in MEC. Plantynet is an internet and network security specialist company that can filter illegal and harmful content on the internet regardless of form?whether sites, images, or videos?using AI deep learning technology. It has secured competitiveness in the domestic and international network filtering markets through leading domestic telecom companies as well as local subsidiaries in Taiwan and Vietnam. Recently, it entered the equipment business with the network packet broker ‘LANEBOW.’ Plantynet stated that it will contribute to developing innovative security models by utilizing related infrastructure in this collaboration.
Entels will provide the core MEC platform and network technology for this cooperation and support the development of more efficient and flexible proactive response solutions for enterprises through MEC-oriented specialized security services. As a network solution and software specialist company, Entels has been recognized for its technological capabilities by supplying 5G communication solutions and services such as IoT and Smart Factory to major domestic companies like SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics, as well as overseas telecom operators including AT&T and Celcom. Additionally, Entels secured and is developing the project "Development and Demonstration of MEC Platform for Universal Education Services" under the MEC-based technology commercialization business of the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of Korea.
Kim Hu-jong, CEO of Plantynet, said, “Many companies worldwide in the 5G era are highly interested in MEC technology that reduces data transmission latency to nearly ‘zero’ levels, and the related network security market will continue to grow. We will maintain close collaboration to proactively prepare new security services such as MEC-based harmful-security filtering technology to provide customers with safe and innovative security services.”
Meanwhile, Entels CEO Choi Young-rae stated, “MEC for ultra-low latency services such as Smart-X (smart factory, smart healthcare, etc.), VR-MR, and metaverse is expected to grow rapidly in line with companies’ digital transformation. Through cooperation with Plantynet, both companies will actively collaborate on developing related solutions to provide customers with enhanced network security and a stable business environment as leading companies in MEC-based specialized security services.”
