LH Develops Human-Centered Design "Applied to Public Housing" Online Exhibition Screen Example 'Community Horizontal'

Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 19th that it will hold an online exhibition titled "Resetting Relationships: Designing the Experience of Walking," introducing and allowing participants to experience human-centered design applied to public housing, for one month starting from the 20th.

In this exhibition, LH implemented the "human-centered design" technique in public housing complexes, which involves observing residents' lifestyle patterns and reflecting their needs to derive design elements.

To this end, LH appointed Professor Na Geon, an expert in convergence design and a professor at the Graduate School of International Design at Hongik University, as the chief designer. Collaborating with experts in urban planning, architecture, landscaping, and industrial design?including architect An Ji-yong, CEO of Manifesto Design Lab; landscape architect Kim Young-min, professor at University of Seoul; and trend analyst Lee Hyang-eun, professor at Sungshin Women's University?they created a new "Public Housing Design Guideline."

The newly developed "Human-Centered Design Guideline" sets the user's walking experience as a central design element, and the online exhibition allows virtual experience of public housing where these design elements are applied.

Visitors can select "street space" and "persona" (a virtual user perspective) on the exhibition website and experience human-centered design elements from the pedestrian's viewpoint through virtual reality (VR).

LH plans to pilot the newly established design guidelines in Gwacheon Gwacheon and Ansan Singil 2 District.

Kim Hyun-jun, President of LH, stated, "Going forward, LH will continue to observe the lifestyle patterns of users experiencing public housing and incorporate their voices, striving to realize a human-centered design philosophy that prioritizes and considers people first."
