[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samyook University announced on the 17th that it will accept transfer admission applications for the 2022 academic year from the 20th to the 28th of this month.
The number of recruits is a total of 241, including ▲157 for general transfer ▲23 for bachelor's degree transfer ▲4 for rural areas ▲2 for specialized high schools ▲40 for RN/BSN ▲15 for medical personnel and kindergarten teacher training.
The eligibility for general transfer applicants includes those who have completed (or are expected to complete) at least 4 semesters at a domestic regular university of 4 years or more (including Korea National Open University and industrial universities) or those who have graduated (or are expected to graduate), and those who have obtained (or are expected to obtain) an associate degree from a junior college (2- or 3-year program).
The eligibility for bachelor's degree transfer applicants includes those who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from domestic or foreign universities (including industrial universities, education universities, Korea National Open University, and other schools recognized as equivalent) and who have obtained (or are expected to obtain) a bachelor's degree.
The eligibility for RN/BSN applicants includes those who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a domestic 3-year nursing college or department and hold (or are expected to hold) a nursing license. The medical personnel and kindergarten teacher training track is for those who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a domestic 3-year nursing, physical therapy, or early childhood education department.
Students applying for general transfer, rural area, and specialized high school tracks will have their official English test scores weighted at 70% and their previous university GPA at 30%.
Official English test scores include TOEIC, New TEPS, and TOEFL iBT, which are applied differentially according to Samyook University's own conversion table. Only scores obtained within 2 years as of January 14, the document submission deadline, in Korea are recognized. Previous university GPA is reflected based on the 100-point conversion score listed on the transcript according to Samyook University's grading scale.
Applicants for the Department of Art and Design, Department of Music, and Department of Physical Education are selected by reflecting 70% of practical test scores instead of official English test scores. The Department of Japanese Language and Department of Chinese Language add up to 30 points to the total score (out of 1000) based on JLPT, JPT, and HSK levels and scores.
The bachelor's degree transfer and medical personnel/kindergarten teacher training tracks operate in two stages. In the first stage, 100% of the previous university GPA is reflected to select five times the number of recruits. For the bachelor's degree transfer nursing department, three times the number is selected. In the second stage, final selection is made through interviews (40%) and previous university GPA (60%). The interview comprehensively evaluates major interest and understanding, personality, values, and academic achievement potential. RN/BSN applicants are selected solely based on previous university GPA.
Documents must be sent by registered mail from December 20 to 5 p.m. on January 14. Postmarks on the day are accepted, but in-person submissions are not allowed. Practical exam dates are scheduled for January 11-12 for the Department of Physical Education, and January 20 for the Department of Music and Department of Art and Design. Interviews will be held on January 24, and the announcement of successful candidates will be on February 4.
