[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will fully implement the transparent PET bottle separate collection system starting from the 25th.
The county announced on the 8th that the transparent PET bottle separate collection will be enforced without exception in not only apartment complexes but also detached houses and commercial buildings.
For transparent PET bottles (water and beverage bottles), the contents should be completely emptied, labels removed, bottles flattened, and caps closed before disposal.
If the PET bottle cap is made of a material other than plastic, it must be separated and disposed of separately. Additionally, colored PET bottles or transparent but non-PET general plastics should be disposed of as general plastics as before.
The county has been applying the transparent PET bottle separate collection system to apartment complexes since December 25 last year. With this full implementation, the recycling rate of transparent PET bottles is expected to increase.
A county official stated, “Separate collection of transparent PET bottles is not optional but mandatory,” and added, “As this is a meaningful system to recycle valuable discarded resources, we ask for the active cooperation of all residents.”
