[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A man in his 40s, who was indiscriminately assaulted by a drunken woman in her 20s on a walking trail near his home last July, has posted a petition demanding severe punishment for the perpetrator. This is the second petition following one in September, and it is known that the perpetrator has not yet issued a direct apology.

On the 5th, a post titled "I accuse the 20s false accuser and her parents who caused the entire family to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder with arrogant, self-serving, and dissociative behavior" was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition Board.

The victim, Mr. A, a man in his 40s and head of the household, opened up, saying, "As the head of the family, I had to endure being hit to protect my family and was falsely accused of sexual harassment. Our son and daughter had no choice but to watch this unwillingly." He asked, "What did we do wrong?"

He continued, "Our family wanted to quickly forget this absurd incident and took the initiative to settle, but we couldn't shake the feeling that the perpetrator and victim roles were reversed." He added, "Instead of asking if our family was okay and apologizing, they only kept making excuses like 'It's hard' and 'I want to die.'"

He further stated, "It has already been four months since the incident. All of our family members have been visiting psychiatrists frequently and cannot sleep without prescribed medication." He lamented, "Why do we have to live like this?"

Mr. A urged for strict punishment, saying, "I hope there will never be any reduction in sentence just because she is a woman, a first-time offender, or was intoxicated."

Earlier, around 10:50 p.m. on July 30th, near an apartment complex walking trail in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, Mr. A, a man in his 40s, was sitting on a bench resting with his wife, middle school-aged son, and seven-year-old daughter when he was suddenly assaulted.

The drunken woman in her 20s, Ms. B, offered alcohol to Mr. A’s son, and when he refused, she started hitting him on the cheek recklessly. When Mr. A tried to stop her, she turned to assault him by striking his head with her phone and continued with verbal abuse.

Ms. B’s assault continued for about 10 minutes until the police arrived. Upon their arrival, Ms. B claimed she had been sexually harassed. After the incident, Mr. A demanded a direct apology from Ms. B as a condition for settlement with her parents, but Ms. B did not show up at two settlement meetings.

It was later reported that Mr. A’s six-year-old daughter, who was present at the scene, was recently diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder at a university hospital.

Meanwhile, the police confirmed that Ms. B was sent to the prosecution on charges of simple assault, not special injury. Charges of false accusation and violation of the Child Protection Act were not applied.
