[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Sunho) announced on the 3rd that from the 1st, a three-day event called the ‘2021 Love Kimchi Making’ was held at Jiyonggwan in Yongbang-myeon, where kimchi made with love and sincerity was prepared and delivered to neighbors in need within the district.
A total of 430 participants, including women’s organizations in Gurye-gun, volunteers, and public officials, made 5,700 heads of kimchi, which were delivered to 511 low-income households and 318 senior centers.
Despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation for the second year, the participating volunteers made and delivered kimchi with bright expressions for neighbors in need, creating a warm community atmosphere.
Kim Sunho, Governor of Gurye-gun, said, “I thank the volunteers who sincerely made kimchi themselves and volunteered even in difficult times,” and added, “It makes me realize once again that Gurye is a place where the spirit of Tainneunghae of Unjoru still lives.”
A volunteer participant, Mr. Lee, said, “On the first day of kimchi making this year, the first snow fell in Gurye. Kimchi tastes better when made on a snowy day. I am happy to know that the kimchi I made will be delivered as Love Kimchi to neighbors in need.”
