[Interview] Lee Chaeyoung "I Want to Be Remembered for Good Acting Rather Than Glamorous Looks"

Actress Lee Chaeyoung said she wants to be recognized for her "acting" rather than her "appearance."

In an interview conducted on the morning of the 2nd, Lee Chaeyoung stated, "I want to be noticed as an actress who delivers good acting rather than being remembered for my looks."

She delivers a powerful performance in the crime drama Yetajja, which tells the story of Mimi (Lee Chaeyoung), who enters the poker scene and meets the mysterious card shark Ozawa (Jung Hyein), then risks her life for a once-in-a-lifetime deal.

Regarding her somewhat strong image highlighted in recent works, Lee Chaeyoung accepted it by saying, "That is also my image."

She then smiled brightly, saying, "I am thirty-six years old, and if people still see me that way, 'thank you'." She added, "At my age, the image people most want is probably one that feels mature and deep. If that feeling is called sexy, then I think it finally suits me."

When people think of 'Lee Chaeyoung,' some might first recall her glamorous external image. Wouldn't she have the desire for her 'good acting' to be noticed first as an actress?

She nodded and said, "I am constantly working hard to show that side." She continued, "Actions probably have much more power than words. Whether in movies or dramas, being able to consistently show my acting and take on challenges is a blessing, but overcoming limits is probably a task."

Lee Chaeyoung said, "As I age and time passes, the glamorous appearance will fade, and the inner self will become important. There will be a good opportunity for people to appreciate the charm an actor has," adding, "Although I have a glamorous image, I will work hard to build a body of work that makes people think I am an actress who also delivers good acting."

She expressed confidence, saying, "I will act until just before I die, so please watch how this actress ages."

At the end of the interview, Lee Chaeyoung also revealed her dreams as a creator. She said, "My goal is to show good acting as an actress, but someday writing and producing good works is also my dream." She added, "I definitely want to present my own work to everyone someday."

Having recently joined a new agency, she promised more active activities. Lee Chaeyoung said, "I was working alone, but yesterday I signed the (exclusive) contract," and added, "I am working hard on variety shows, and next year I will greet you with even better works."
