Korea Imported Car Association Hosts University Student Maintenance Technology Competition

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Korea Imported Automobile Association (KAIDA) announced on the 2nd that it recently held the awards ceremony for the '2021 KAIDA University Student Maintenance Technology Competition' at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, successfully concluding the event.


This competition, held for the first time this year, was organized as part of efforts to strengthen social contribution activities in the imported car industry and to contribute to the development of the domestic automobile industry, KAIDA explained.


Six KAIDA member companies and six universities participated in this competition, which took place over approximately five months from July to November. During the competition period, each member company provided training vehicles and established theoretical and practical training programs led by experts, offering automobile major students opportunities to receive vehicle education and learn about the latest technology trends. Subsequently, through final evaluations, 12 scholarship recipients with outstanding results were selected.


The awardees are ▲Mercedes-Benz Korea - Park Do-gyun and Kim Dong-hyun from Yeungnam College of Science and Technology ▲Volvo Cars Korea - Park Joo-young and Kim Seung-hwan from Ajou Motor College ▲Stellantis Korea - Kim Sung-taek and Kim Joo-young from Shinhan University ▲Audi Volkswagen Korea - Cho Won-bin and Yang Dae-ho from Busan Institute of Science and Technology ▲FMK - Cho Hyung-jin and Kim Sung-hoon from Kookje University ▲Toyota Motor Korea - Kim Tae-yoon and Choi Chang-ho from Yeoju University.


Im Han-gyu, Vice Chairman of KAIDA, said, "I hope this competition helped automobile major students grow into practical talents by experiencing the latest automobile maintenance technologies," adding, "KAIDA and its members will continue to provide educational opportunities for nurturing automobile professionals and take the lead in enhancing the overall competitiveness of the domestic automobile industry and activating industry-academia cooperation in the imported car sector."


Meanwhile, KAIDA is actively engaged in various activities for the development of the domestic automobile industry, including sponsoring the '2021 University Student Self-Built Car Competition' hosted by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE) on the 3rd.
