[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Major foreign media reported on the 27th (local time) that Israel has decided to completely ban the entry of all foreigners due to concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.

Israel will ban the entry of all foreigners and reintroduce anti-terror phone tracking technology.

Israel is the first country to completely close its borders since the Omicron variant, known to have stronger transmissibility and penetration than the Delta variant, was discovered.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett issued a statement on the day announcing the complete ban on foreigners' entry, stating that this measure is expected to last for 14 days.

So far, one case of Omicron variant infection has been confirmed in Israel. Additionally, the variant infection status of seven suspected patients is being verified.
