[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Min Jung-gi, former Blue House public relations secretary who officially announced the death of the late former President Jeon Du-hwan, has drawn attention by speculating that the cause of death might be "suspected side effects of COVID-19." It is claimed that the former president received the COVID-19 vaccine from the American multinational pharmaceutical company Pfizer and subsequently developed blood cancer.
In an interview with JTBC on the 23rd, former Secretary Min said, "The former president developed blood cancer after receiving the Pfizer vaccine," adding, "Side effects are suspected."

He said, "Around June or July, I visited the former president, and he looked very emaciated and did not appear healthy," adding, "When I asked his wife, Mrs. Lee Soon-ja, 'Why is he like this?' she said, 'After receiving the COVID vaccine, he had difficulty eating and lost about 10 kg in weight.'
However, he said he did not know the exact timing of the former president's vaccination.
He continued, "The former president lost more than 10 kg in weight. Then, after receiving a diagnosis at the hospital, it was leukemia," and mentioned vaccine side effects by saying, "But he was not the only one; there are quite a few such cases."
The former president passed away at around 8:40 a.m. that day at his home in Yeonhui-dong, Seoul, at the age of 90. He suffered from multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
Until 2019, the former president was seen in good health, attending golf meetings with close aides.
However, his health reportedly deteriorated rapidly from the second half of this year. In August, the former president was admitted to Seoul Sinchon Severance Hospital for various tests and was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
He received hospital treatment for 12 days and was discharged on the 25th of the same month. Since then, he has lived at home without hospitalization and took oral chemotherapy pills.
Meanwhile, multiple myeloma occurs when plasma cells, a type of white blood cell responsible for the immune system in the bone marrow, abnormally differentiate and proliferate. The accumulation of abnormal antibodies in the body causes bones to fracture easily or cause pain, and decreases in white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets increase the risk of infection and bleeding.
The causal relationship of the disease's onset is not yet clearly known. It is presumed to be related to exposure to chemicals such as pesticides, insecticides, petroleum, or genetic factors.
